Import into accounting software
Download your statement as QBO, QFX, OFX, QIF or CSV and import it into QuickBooks, Xero, Quicken, MYOB, Sage or Wave.
Every converted statement can be downloaded in the formats accounting software imports. The buttons are under the statement summary on the results page. Pick the account type (bank, savings or credit card) first; for CSV and QIF files also pick the date format your software expects.
Transactions are written oldest first, and each one gets a stable ID, so importing the same statement twice won't create duplicates.
| Software | Download | Where to import |
|---|---|---|
| QuickBooks Online | QuickBooks (.qbo) or QuickBooks Online (.csv) | Transactions → Bank transactions → Upload transactions |
| QuickBooks Desktop | QuickBooks (.qbo) | File → Utilities → Import → Web Connect Files |
| Xero | Xero (.csv) or OFX | Accounting → Bank accounts → Import a statement |
| Quicken | Quicken (.qfx) (or .qif for older versions) | File → File Import → Web Connect / QIF |
| MYOB, Sage, Wave, FreeAgent, GnuCash | OFX | Each app's bank statement import |
QuickBooks
- The
.qbofile is a Web Connect file. When QuickBooks asks which account it belongs to, pick the matching bank or credit card account; it remembers the choice for later imports. - QuickBooks Online's CSV upload uses three columns (Date, Description, Amount). Money in is positive and money out is negative. Choose the date format that matches your QuickBooks region.
Xero
- The CSV has Xero's statement columns: Date, Amount, Payee, Description and Reference.
- Xero reads dates in your organisation's region format: day first (31/01/2024) outside the US.
Quicken
- Use
.qfxfor current versions and.qiffor older ones or when Quicken refuses the QFX.
Credit cards
Choose Credit card before downloading. Charges are exported as negative amounts and payments as positive, the convention QuickBooks, Xero and Quicken expect for credit card accounts.
Something didn't import?
These formats need dated bank statement transactions, so they're only available when PDFGenie found a statement. If the balance check flagged rows, review them before importing. If your software rejects a file, email support@pdfgenie.app with the name of the software and the error, and we'll fix the format.
