What makes Barclays statements tricky
- Each statement starts with a “Start balance” row that we use as the opening balance rather than a transaction.
- Several transactions can share one printed date, and descriptions often span two or three lines.
- Money out and Money in are separate columns with the balance on the right.

Frequently asked questions
- How do I convert a Barclays statement to Excel?
- Download the statement PDF from Barclays online banking, drop it onto this page and choose Excel or CSV once the transactions appear. Most statements take a few seconds.
- Is it safe to upload my Barclays statement?
- Files travel over HTTPS and are converted by our own software, with no AI services involved. They're deleted automatically after 24 hours (72 if the conversion fails, so we can fix it), and you can delete them yourself right away.
- Does PDFGenie check the Barclays balances?
- Yes. Each transaction is checked against the running balance where the statement prints one, and the opening/closing balances otherwise. Rows that don't add up are flagged so you can review them.
- Can I convert scanned statements?
- Yes. Pages without a text layer (scans and photos saved as PDF) are read with OCR on our own servers, and sideways or upside-down pages are turned upright. PDFs downloaded from online banking are still the most accurate, and the balance check flags any row OCR may have misread.
