What makes CMB statements tricky

  • Headers are in Chinese (记账日期, 交易金额, 联机余额, 交易摘要, 对手信息); our multilingual header detection maps them to date, amount, balance and description.
  • Amounts are signed in a single column and followed by the balance, so every row can be reconciled.
  • Counterparty details are a separate column and are appended to the description.

Typical columns

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert a China Merchants Bank statement to Excel?
Download the statement PDF from CMB online banking, drop it onto this page and choose Excel or CSV once the transactions appear. Most statements take a few seconds.
Is it safe to upload my CMB statement?
Files travel over HTTPS and are converted by our own software, with no AI services involved. They're deleted automatically after 24 hours (72 if the conversion fails, so we can fix it), and you can delete them yourself right away.
Does PDFGenie check the CMB balances?
Yes. Each transaction is checked against the running balance where the statement prints one, and the opening/closing balances otherwise. Rows that don't add up are flagged so you can review them.
Can I convert scanned statements?
Yes. Pages without a text layer (scans and photos saved as PDF) are read with OCR on our own servers, and sideways or upside-down pages are turned upright. PDFs downloaded from online banking are still the most accurate, and the balance check flags any row OCR may have misread.
